Hello,
We hope that you had a great summer.
As we move into the fall season, we would like to share some exciting news. We have expanded our team to include two senior attorneys and a legal assistant with valuable experience and expertise. We are thrilled to welcome Donna Spicer, Ryan Garman and Maya Golan to our firm!
Donna Spicer is an associate at Lara Sass & Associates, PLLC, specializing in advising high net worth clients on lifetime and post-mortem strategies to reduce gift, estate and generation-skipping transfer (GST) taxes on transfers of property, as well as trust and estate administration. Donna brings to the firm over 35 years of legal experience, which includes over 20 years of experience involving drafting and reviewing legal documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorneys, medical directives, and various other transfer documents-both intervivos and post mortem.
Donna obtained her LLM in Taxation from the University of Houston Law School and has previously worked with the United States Navy, Judge Advocate General Corps, where she prosecuted and defended naval service members. Upon her discharge from the Navy in 1990, Donna became a prosecutor for the Chesapeake Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, Chesapeake, Virginia, and was appointed a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Ryan Garman is an associate at Lara Sass & Associates, PLLC. He earned his JD from Case Western in May 2013 and has worked extensively with high net worth clients and sophisticated planning concepts. He has over 10 years of experience with estate and tax planning, post-mortem trust and estate administrations, and corporate and real estate transactions. He counsels clients on estate and tax planning matters, including last will and testaments, revocable and irrevocable trust agreements, estate, gift, GST, and fiduciary income taxation planning, and estate planning for retirement accounts, including IRAs and 401(k)s. Ryan also assists clients with entity formation and selection and represents clients in corporate and real estate transactions.
Ryan will be earning his LLM in Taxation from Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School this year, where his focus has included wealth transfer taxation, tax and estate planning for high net worth clients, post-mortem tax planning and charitable trusts.
Maya Golan is in the process of finishing her final year at Brooklyn Law School. With a diverse background in Corporate Law, Real Estate Law and Immigration Law, Maya possesses the competence to assist clients through the intricacies of estate administration.
Throughout her early years at law school, Maya volunteered at the Children's Law Center, where she represented children entangled in intricate legal matters. Her deep-seated passion lies in leveraging her legal education to aid disadvantaged individuals within society. Maya further contributes to her community by serving on the board of her local temple, and actively participating in the organization of fundraisers, volunteering initiatives, and events catering to young professionals.
Our firm has been looking to expand for some time, recruiting some of the industry’s top talent. It is our hope with a larger, experienced team that we can continue to outdo ourselves, offering exceptional service to each of our clients and colleagues.
We appreciate your relationship with our firm and, if you should have estate planning or administration needs now or in the future, please do not hesitate to ask. We are always here to help.
